Bouygues Telecom on Monday announced the commercial launch of its mobile network at very high speed (4G) on May 6 in Lyon, Strasbourg, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Vanves Malakoff and Toulouse, and in June in Lille, Douai , Lens and the Basque coast. A dozen cities will be covered by 4G Bouygues Telecom before the summer and more than 100 cities from October 1. In a statement, the subsidiary of the Bouygues group said that at that time she will be able to cover 40% of the French population 4G.

Telecom Regulatory Authority (ARCEP) has allowed mid-March, a subsidiary of construction group to use their 2G spectrum for 4G convert. A decision recue as a breath of fresh air for the operator as it prevents him in the short term to invest heavily in its network and change antennas.

Bouygues Telecom, but also SFR, Orange have been challenged by the arrival of Free Mobile and its low-cost offers. They are in a race to 4G including speed to Free Mobile, which may take some time before you have a wireless network to very high speed. Orange and SFR, hope to cover each of 25 to 30% of the population at the end of the year. The first has already lit antennas around the Place de l’Opéra in Paris and the second has invested the esplanade of defense and opened in late March 4G in Marseille.
