Take pictures of food and share them on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, becomes a trivial gesture. As these dishes are appetizing, it seems that post such pictures is the sign of an eating disorder. Dr. Valerie Taylor, chief of psychiatry at Women’s College Hospital, University of Toronto, indeed considers this as symptomatic.

“I have patients that food has become a problem and it is difficult to go out without them talking about something else than what he eats, when he eats, when they will once again come to the table, “said the American doctor Huffington Post in an interview picked up by the French version of the site.

“food becomes central”

“This becomes a problem when all they do is send pictures of food. [...] It takes pictures of what is important for us and for some people Food is central and everything else – the place, the people, etc. -. no longer a part of the scenery, “continued the expert

.

This obsession with food can also take the form of tattoos, explains Dr. Taylor in a study on eating disorders (in English). It notes for example that “McDonalds I love you” tends to premplacer “Mom I love you” tattooed on the biceps. The sign, she said, the food takes place more important.
