Californian giant has already signed two of the three majors.
The iRadio service could be presented next week.

project iRadio advance. According to some, it might even be presented next week, during the WWDC, the Apple developers conference which begins Monday. According to the “New York Times” and “Wall Street Journal,” Apple has obtained the agreement of a second major, Warner Music, to operate its catalog in its upcoming Internet radio streaming. In April, Apple has already signed with Universal Music. Now remains to convince the third major label, Sony, with which Apple continues to negotiate. According to the American press, an agreement would be possible in the coming hours.

Double source of income

iRadio should be a service similar to that of Pandora, a pioneer and leader in online radio in the United States with 70 million users and a market capitalization reached $ 3 billion. The securities issued in “streaming” (without downloading therefore, unlike the flagship service Apple iTunes), are grouped into genres and users can organize their own lists of favorites. The proposed by Apple to record labels would agree, however, more advantageous than they have with Pandora. Also pay according to the number of times each title is played, Apple would offer them a percentage of advertising revenues generated by the new service.

of “streaming” starting to nibble market share for download on the Internet market, however, is beginning to be crowded. In the United States, in addition to Pandora, Spotify offers access to its entire catalog for ten dollars a month. Recently, Google has also entered the market with Google Play Music, for which he has obtained the consent of all the majors. Twitter has also launched an application for musical discovery.
