This is the third Ariane launch of the year, the 214th Ariane launch at all and 70th Ariane 5. A European Ariane 5 rocket was successfully launched on Thursday evening at 21h54 Paris time from Kourou, French Guiana French. With a total launch weight of about 6.6 tons, Alphasat allow Inmarsat extending its global telecommunications (voice, data …) across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. With a life expectancy of 15 years, it will be positioned above the Congo, about 36,000 km altitude. The mission is meant to validate orbit the most advanced European research in the field of space telecommunications technologies.

British company Inmarsat has chosen Arianespace to launch its seven satellites. INSAT-3D will be his 16th satellite entrusted by the Indian space agency, the European launcher. With a takeoff weight of about 2.1 tons, it will be responsible for developing a prevention service storms and natural disasters. It will be positioned to the south of Sri Lanka, at an altitude of about 36,000 km. Its expected lifetime is 7 years and its coverage will extend to the entire Indian subcontinent.
