VLC for iOS returns to the App Store - Digital Zone

iOS 2.0.1 VLC Media Player is available in the App Store.La French version should be released soon. Unauthorized use of GPLed code use had ended VLC iOS in early 2011.

VLC player is back on the AppStore after his retirement in early January 2011. This application was initially available in late 2010. She remained on iOS utlilisable a brief time. This new version, called 2.0.1 which runs on iOS 5.1 at least, is now compatible with all iOS devices like the iPhone 3G or the first iPad. All VLC code has been redesigned and optimized by VideoLAN, the publisher of this application. We can now upload files from various sources (iTunes, Wi-Fi, Dropbox). Full HD files can be decoded. VLC is compatible with AirPlay for playback on external displays.

new VLC app is now published under the GPLv2 and MPLv2 (Mozilla Public License) dual licensing. The team of developers of the new version indicates that new modules audio and video were integrated. It is now possible to read files in MKV format. It is also possible to download a file and read it in “offline” mode. The 2.0.1 version of VLC will be available in our language.
