BuzzFeed soon landed in France - Le Figaro

The U.S. entertainment website and information announced the launch of three new versions in French, Spanish and Portuguese. The goal: to expand its audience beyond mere public speaking

.

public speaking is not enough to BuzzFeed. The U.S. site information and entertainment has announced the launch of three new versions in French, Spanish and Portuguese. BuzzFeed France will be posted on November 4. Portuguese and Spanish versions will be published about them respectively on 18 and 21 October.

This is the first initiative of BuzzFeed outside the Anglophone community. Launched in 2006 by co-founder of Huffington Post , Jonah Peretti, the site now boasts 85 million unique visitors per month. This is three times more than last year. The secret of hearing BuzzFeed based on clever use of social networks. The articles are calibrated to be more divided as possible on Facebook or Twitter. More than 40% of website traffic comes from Facebook.

The other highlight of the site is its eclecticism. BuzzFeed can juggle between entertainment and background information. To do this, he debauched journalists from renowned media as Guardian or Newsweek. Sound Editor Ben Smith is a former Politico , a figure of American political journalism. In July, the site has also announced the hiring of its first foreign correspondents in Europe and the Middle East. The message is clear: despite its surrounding light site BuzzFeed is primarily a serious and credible media. “We provide more background information every day that a lot of television,” stated Jon Steinberg, President of BuzzFeed, during his speech at MIPCOM. “It is our belief that the mainstream media have abandoned the young, he added, they do not seek to make their interesting stories for people below 40 years.”

With its American success, BuzzFeed is now looking to open up to the world. In March, the site launched its first foreign version BuzzFeed UK, intended for users in the United Kingdom. To do this, he recruited an English team to produce content suited to the English culture. There is no question of opening an office in France at the moment. BuzzFeed would mainly expand its audience by translating the most popular items in French. The language barrier seems for the moment to prevent the success of the site in the country. France, its audience is less than 100 000 unique visitors per month, according to Médiamétrie
