Egypt: new technologies to finally unravel the mysteries … – Le Quotidien du Tourisme

The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities has announced the launch of an international project to scan the Egyptian Pyramids. This is the project “Scan Pyramids”.

A scientific mission was launched Sunday, October 25, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of National Antiquities by the Faculty of Engineering of Cairo and the French Institute HIP (Heritage, Innovation, Preservation).

This is a highly sophisticated X-ray system (already used in Fukushima) that will allow researchers to probe, without drilling a single hole, the heart of the largest pyramids Egypt. The scientific mission which will start in early November is on a scale not achieved. It will focus on four masterpieces of the Fourth Dynasty (2575 -2465). South pyramid, called rhomboid, and North pyramid, called Red pyramid, both built by Snefru (2575 – 2551) on the site of Dahshur, about fifteen kilometers south of Saqqara. It will also focus on the pyramids of Khufu and Khafre, son and grand-son of Snefru, high on the Giza plateau at about twenty kilometers from Cairo. “Our desire says Mehdi Tayoubi, HIP president of the institute, is to form a body of international experts and discuss their theoretical and technological approaches to the archaeological ground reality.” Many theories have been proposed, both for the construction of the pyramids and their structural abnormalities, but we are physicists and engineers, not archaeologists, “says Hany Helal, professor and former minister of research and higher education, head of mission for the Faculty Engineers from Cairo. “Our goal is to use techniques to achieve concrete results. Egyptologists then to interpret “The mission should last at least until the end of 2016.
