The new strategy on digital Berne – Tribune de Genève

Switzerland should further take advantage of the increasing digitalization and the opportunities it provides for the economy. The Federal Council on Wednesday launched the “Swiss Digital Agenda” to develop “a coherent policy data and forward looking.”

“This is to create an active e-government continuously across the country,” said Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard before the media in Bern. The Swiss “should benefit all times many simple online services, secure and harmonized,” she continued, defining e-government as a key element of this strategy.

Leuthard cited the example of the tax return online or electronic voting, for which “in particular should reduce the differences between the cantons.” The areas of energy and transport also need to be adapted to the demands of digitization and sharing of content simultaneously.

The Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication (DETEC) has also been responsible for developing the end of June an overview of access, processing and data security Confederation. This will then decide on specific measures.

The federal government will also try to initiate a coordinated trade with the European Union. The aim is that Switzerland can exploit the opportunities offered by a European digital single market.

“A Responsibility”

The new strategy of the Federal Council will take the form of a constant exchange with the representatives of the economy, academia and civil society, unlike the former, which governed only the action of Confederation. All stakeholders are invited to engage in dialogue “Swiss Digital” coordinated by the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM).

“The government has the responsibility to lead the way, creating opportunities and framework conditions to make possible the change induced by the digital,” commented the president of the Johann Schneider-Ammann . training in particular can help reduce fears and to change attitudes in this sense, he argued.

To illustrate the threat digitizing the working places, the economy minister cited small digital revolutions like Airbnb hosting online platform or the booking service Uber car with driver. Recent entities that nevertheless also created new working places, he insisted. (ats / nxp)
